UPSC NDA & Civil Services Photo and Signature Size Guidelines 2026

UPSC has introduced new, stringent rules for uploading photographs in the One Time Registration (OTR) and specific exam forms (like CSE, NDA, CDS). Our tool is designed to automate these new requirements:

UPSC Photo Requirements:

  • Name and Date Requirement: The name of the candidate and the date on which the photograph was taken must be clearly printed at the bottom of the photo.
  • Recency: The photograph should not be more than 10 days old from the start of the online application process.
  • File Size & Format: Typically must be in JPG format and under 300 KB (often requiring a minimum of 20 KB depending on the specific form).
  • Face Coverage: The candidate's face should occupy 3/4th of the space in the photograph.
  • Consistency: Candidate's appearance must match the photo at all stages of the exam (e.g., if you have a beard in the photo, you must have it during the exam).
  • Signature Size & Format: Just like the photo, the UPSC NDA photo and signature size must be between 20 KB to 300 KB in JPG format. The signature should be done with black or blue ink on plain white paper.

Tip: Use our "Add Name & Date" feature. Just type your name, select today's date, and the tool will place a clean white strip with your details at the bottom of the photo perfectly.
